What is the limit in cashing in U.S Savings Bonds?

I want to cash in $2150.00 worth of I Series savings bonds. I read on the treasury website that you can only cash in $1000.00 at a time at a local bank. Does anyone know the timeframe when you can cash in more? Is it $1000 per visit, per month, per quarter?
